Clove is a wonderful spice. Used in traditional spice blends like quatre-epices from France, garam masala from India, five spice from China, and Ras el Hanout from Morocco, clove is a much more prominent spice than you might realize and it’s a spice that works really well with richer red wines that have spent a little time in oak barrel. So we’re recommending Black Slate’s Porrera Priorat. A blend of Garnacha, Carignan, and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine shows lovely dark fruit and spice characteristics with a savory, almost meaty quality. A lamb tagine seasoned with Ras el Hanout would be perfect with this wine.
